MEET NJ

The DJ with a decade of professional experience

“I live, breathe, and love sharing music.

Nothing frustrates me more than an empty dance floor, so my mission is to keep everybody on their feet - if the people aren’t moving, I’m not satisfied!

I pride myself on producing unforgettable events with a customer-tailored music selection and phenomenal mixing.”

A mix you’ll LOVE

I curate my setlist to your music taste and weave it with seamless transitions - no more tired old playlists or stop-start rubbish.

Live Mash-ups

I specialise in real-time stem mixing. Merging different acapellas and instrumentals breathes new life into your favourite tunes.

Open-format

From French House to Amapiano, I’m comfortable mixing various genres, anywhere.

A little history…

I’ve been obsessed with music for as long as I can remember, and it’s still all I know and love. I was raised in a wonderfully musical household - my parents introduced me to legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Chuck Berry, and Whitney Houston.

The TV was never on - instead, you’d find me by the Hi-Fi, trolling through piles of classic albums and learning them lyric by lyric. It’s a wonder nobody chiselled out the repeat button…

I taught myself how to DJ at around 10 years old. Hijacking my mum’s laptop to fool around on VirtualDJ, I made remixes and mashups of my favourite songs, recorded DJ sets, and thought I was the next Calvin Harris.

Seeing potential, my parents bought me my first set of decks for Christmas, and I started DJing professionally at age 12 under the wing of my booking agent/manager/roadie (my mum). Coolest way to earn pocket money if you ask me.

I felt like a superstar on my world tour, playing at birthday parties, fundraisers, and local pub events. I even played my first wedding reception at 13, to some confused but positively impressed guests!

I moved to Huddersfield to study Sound Engineering at university, and spent hours practising DJ sets with my fellow music-tech nerds. I started playing at flat parties, which evolved into house parties, university events, and bar nights.

I’ve soundtracked countless Friday nights at Kafka and played the student night at Revolution, which has been an absolute blast - I know how much the DJ can make or break a night out, so I love seeing the crowds cutting it up on the dancefloor.

I was lucky to become a regular performer for Techcast Events, who hold concerts in the cosy Northern Quarter Bar.

My first set with them happened completely by chance: I signed up to perform as a vocalist, but after Googling me, the staff asked if I’d provide background music between sets.

My background antics were convincing enough to be invited to co-headline the following event, and I have now performed at 12 (and counting) incredible events with the Techcast crew!

“Being a DJ is the best job in the world. I’m the provider of good times, sharing my passion and connecting people through music. The electric reaction from the crowd never gets old.”

Favourite song on the decks?

Robin S. - Show Me Love. Instant floor-filler, and everyone knows the lyrics, no matter where I play it.

Favourite record?

Destiny’s Child - Survivor. I have it on a battered CD that skips if you walk too heavily near the player. I don’t think I’ll ever stream the album!

Dream gig?

The Valley Stage @ Parklife. Incredible energy. If I don’t make it to the stage, you’ll find me in the audience.
